Sam Jones — Biographies and Information

Sam JonesSamuel P. Jones (1847-1906) was an American preacher and evangelist during the time of Dwight L. Moody. Composer, music director, and publisher, E. O. Excell, served as his soloist and song leader for 20 years.
Born Oct. 16, 1847 in Oak Bowery, Alabama — Died Oct. 15, 1906 on board a train in Arkansas.

Marriage and Family:
Laura Jones Laura McElwain Jones (1850-1926): Married Sam Jones, November 24, 1868. They had seven children (Beulah, Mary, Annie, Sam Paul, Robert W., Laura, Julia Baxter). With Walt Holcomb, a co-worker of Mr. Jones, she wrote The Life and Sayings of Sam P. Jones: A Minister of the Gospel, published in 1907.
